Background

To anyone who knows me personally, you know that the last few weeks have been stressful. I decided to quit my job, in search for a future that better suits my professional growth. That was absolutely terrifying! However, coupled with that choice, then came the perfect time to jump all in with my book. The book started in 2022 as an idea and a way to get myself out of a dark spot. For multiple reasons, the book took a long time to finalize. However, I am a firm believer in the magic of timing. I am so grateful this process did take so long, because every part of the journey came when I needed it most. In the final stages of editing my book, I reread a part that inspired me to take that leap of faith:

You'd see that no job and no one

Should wreck your peace of mind.

A couple hard days is fine,

But a hard life isn't work your time.

A unique view of the cover to If You Saw Yourself Like I Do: A letter from your future self. On the left is the older version of a woman handing a letter to her younger self. This was my vision from the very beginning and Beth Ferrier delivered in more ways than I could possibly imagine! In print, the hand perfectly wraps around the spine to the front of the book and hands her younger self a letter. I hope you find this detail as unique and magical as I do.

Just a few weeks earlier, I had been listening to one of my favorite podcasts: Financial Feminist (Her First 100k) and they were talking about the reality that many women are afraid to begin investing because they don't know everything about it. Tori Dunlap (CEO & Founder) frequently talks about how you do not need to and how her work is to help break the narrative that you need to be an expert to start investing. This theme can be true for many women when it comes to applying for jobs, picking up a new skill, finding the right retirement account, etc. For me, I unnecessarily delayed my book because I didn't "have it all together." This unfair narrative I told myself held me back, until I started listening to this podcast and asking for help. The easy part for me had been done months prior: writing the book and paying my illustrator (Beth Ferrier). What I thought was that it was actually a pipe dream and I'd never get past the annoying technical side: laying the book out, editing, paying for more art last minute, going through multiple versions, changing the book size more than 5 times, etc. It turns out, I was wrong. Did I know how to do any of the technical things when I started? Absolutely not! But, I figured it out QUICKLY! I hope you take away a lesson from this: You don't need to be an expert to try new things. Jump in and always remember that you can do hard things!

The Countdown Begins!

For those of you familiar with the KDP system, once you hit the publish button, it is a short time until the book officially hits the market. The review process is less than 72 hours. I am so excited to announce that my book will go live any day! For now, it is exclusively available on Amazon, but I have the flexibility to expand in the future. Thank you to everyone in my life who has inspired this journey of mine.
